Mermaid Shaker Card With Distress Oxide Ink

Hello!
I have a bright and cheery mermaid shaker card to share with you today.

I used the Swimming By stamp set from Honey Bee Stamps and colored those cute little images with Prismacolor colored pencils. (There’s also a die set for these Swimming By stamps – but I cut them out by hand.)

I recently got the 72-color Prismacolor set and love having a variety of colors for blending. You can get a smaller set, such as a 12-color set for a lower cost to start – that’s what I did and that set is now my daughter’s.) 😉 I like having more options.

I blended a rainbow of Distress Oxide inks onto my 4″ x 5.25″ background to start. (Wilted Violet, Salty Ocean, Cracked Pistachio, Fossilized Amber, and Worn Lipstick.) Then I cut a rectangle out of the center with my paper trimmer. I used the inner rectangle as the sunken-down inside piece of the shaker, so I used the whole background that I created.

I embossed the sentiment “Swimming by to say” on the window – which warped a bit because I did not use high-heat acetate. But that’s OK, I had a feeling that would happen but wanted to experiment. My 5yo daughter helped me pick out the sequins and glitter to add inside the shaker 🙂

I just love all of the fun images that come in this stamp set. They’re very versatile and what makes the mermaid especially fun is you can get pretty wild with your color choices! Her hair was fun to make multi-colored, and as you can see below, I added some fun shine with my shimmer brush.

Thanks for visiting, hope you enjoyed!
