Today I first want to share the video I made for you. I’ll show you what comes in the collection and walk you through the handbook (before I even looked through it!). Here it is…
Now here are the first 2 cards I made with this cartridge! I love that the “negative” cuts can easily be used in another card.
This is the first one I made, as the card is shown in the handbook. I used a piece of Thistle cardstock from our new Paper Fundamentals whimsy assortment. Can you see the lovely UV embossed pattern? I forgot to take a picture of the inside…it’s the same pattern but purple/white instead of UV coated. It’s so lovely in person…nice subtle eye candy!
TIP: Use your scraps! To add the different colors I cut scraps of carstock and adhered them to the inside, then I covered the whole inside panel with a piece of cardstock slightly smaller than the 5″x7″ card.
This second card uses the negative cuts and has a whole different look. I cut a 5″x7″ base, and then embossed a piece of 4.5″x6.5″ cardstock with CTMH’s dot embossing folder. (I love the deep pattern of our embossing folders.)
To ink it up, I took a Tim Holtz ink blending tool with Thistle ink. I laid the cardstock on copy paper and inked up the blending tool, then started off the page and rubbed the ink onto the page in a circular motion. I started off the page so I wouldn’t have any “super inky” spots and it all blended nicely. I put most of the ink around the edges of the panel, then, without re-inking, rubbed the leftover ink in the center for subtle color just to make the dots pop.
Here’s a good shot of the embossing–dots and the UV coating on the cardstock. I adhered the dots panel to the card with 3D foam tape.
