Using Your Stash: Use It or Lose It Blog Hop

Hello crafty friends,

I am so excited for today’s blog hop…it’s all about using your stash! I hoard collect a LOT of papercrafting supplies. I am sure you can relate! “Oooooh, this paper is so pretty, I must have it, even though I have no use for it right this moment.” Amiright?!

Well, us ladies in this blog hop would like to encourage you to dig deep into your stash and pull out some pretty paper, embellishments, inks, or anything else you haven’t used in a while…or ever…and PLAY! We had a lot of fun. Grab a cuppa coffee and hop along with us. I am so honored to be among these talented ladies…you will not be disappointed by their work.

Here’s what I came up with…

In my layout I used a little new and a lot of old. I bought that adorable woodgrain chevron paper last year because I *had* to have it. And the white embellishments are from Close to my Heart’s Dreamin’ Big Complements, which I also *had* to have but hadn’t used them yet. They worked perfectly with this layout. (They are officially retired but still available HERE while supplies last!)

The “new” in this layout is that die-cut transparency with the trees on it. I recently went on a scrapbooking retreat in Estes Park, CO, and we always stop at the biggest, best scrapbooking store on our way from the Denver airport to Mountains & Memories in Estes. Seriously, if you are ever in the Broomfield/Denver area, you HAVE to check out the Scrap Shack. It will blow your mind. (Anyone reading ever been there?) I took the photo below while we were there and this is only about half of the store. There’s more retail space and a ton of “crop” room.

Anyway, I digress… I got that transparency there and knew immediately that I wanted to use it with these hiking photos. I backed it with white paper and let that be the focal point…I wanted to use pretty plain embellishments so the Dreamin’ Big Complements fit the bill. They are plastic and add some fun dimension. I tried to get some shots of the dimension…

How cute is my little dude? He was in the stroller for most of the hike but was *just* starting to stand/walk when we went.

I had some woodgrain Thickers in my stash as well. They don’t stand out super well but I was ok with that.

Here are full shots of each side of the layout…

I hope you enjoyed!
