Girly Graduation Card | CTMH May Stamp of the Month Blog Hop

Hello, and happy May!

Today my blog hop friends and I are sharing artwork using the May 2019 stamp of the month called To My Bestie. If you’ve come from Katy’s blog, you’re in the right place. But this hop goes in a circle, so get comfy and get ready for some fun inspiration!

This stamp set is so versatile. There are so many fun images, large and small, and a variety of sentiments. I love the “it’s your day” sentiment – it can be used for so many occasions. In fact, I may add it to the inside of this graduation card!

For my card I decided to make an unconventional graduation card. This card uses all of my new favorites! You could use this idea for a myriad of needs, but I happen to need several grad cards. I also plan to make more of these to send to some of my team members who had a great month last month!

Did you SEE those Crafting Shapes dies? OMG – I about died when I first saw them! And can we talk about the Craft On paper? Flowers + crafting + all my favorite colors together = SWOON!!! The moment I saw the Brushed Bravo stamp I knew it would be used for the many graduation cards I will be making in the coming weeks. This is the first – I didn’t think I’d be pairing it with these dies but it totally works for anyone who went to school, not just crafters!

Where’s the stamp of the month?

Are you wondering where I used the stamp of the month? It isn’t the highlight, but it sure came in handy. I used the scalloped border stamp from the set underneath the floral paper. The floral paper was getting lost on its own since it has a white background on a white card base. So I used some black on either side to make it pop. The top is a very thin black strip of cardstock and the bottom is the border stamp – it adds a whimsy detail with just the perfect amount of black to make everything pop. Don’t overlook ANY of the stamps in your stamp sets! They can all serve a great purpose 🙂

Close-Ups

For the “metal” parts of the scissors and pencil, I first cut them out of plain white daisy cardstock with the dies. Then I colored them with a gray alcohol marker (you could use any marker you have) and topped with my silver glitter jelly roll pen. I first tried the shimmer brush (because I typically use it on everything) but it didn’t give the metallic look I was going for. You could also use silver foil paper, but I didn’t have any, so this was an easy and cheap alternative! I added a bitty sparkle for the “hinge” of the scissors. It’s the perfect fit and so adorable!

I used this week’s sketch from Atlantic Hearts Sketch challenge. Go check it out and play along!

Now head on over to Lauren’s blog.
